What are the differences between karat in diamond vs in gold. And what is kg on a gold ring stand for?

And which is more valuable? I never owned such jewelery but have heard of them and am all bollixed up. I did see a gold band before it says 14 Kg something like that....are kgs importance anything?

Diamond weights are premeditated in carats. Gold weights are measured in troy ounces. Gold blamelessness is measured in Karats, abbreviated K or Kt. Karats are like portion, except measured in 24ths. So 24K is pure gold, 18K is 3/4 gold and 1/4 something else.
